Q: Should I make an appointment before coming in to look at wedding dresses?

A: Yes, at the Royal Bridal we highly suggest making an appointment if you are coming in to look at gowns. Due to the delicate materials of our dresses, we do not allow self-service in the gown area. Every bride is assigned a personal consultant that will wait on her alone. We do accommodate walk-ins but appointments are given preference. (With an appointment either a consultant is waiting for you or you will automatically be “next up”.) APPOINTMENTS ARE ALWAYS REQUIRED FOR FITTINGS. Please make an appointment by calling (630) 516-0050.

Q: Who should I bring with me to me wedding gown shopping appointment?

A: When shopping for a wedding gown all the experts advise not to bring too many people. Your mom and one or two other trusted individuals seem to be the perfect mix. It’s great to have one or two people who are close to you to give you honest opinions but bringing too many people to “poll the audience” is a recipe for disaster that may make you miss out on your perfect gown. In the end, the only opinion that truly counts when picking a wedding gown is YOURS! You will be the center of attention at your wedding (no one cares how the groom looks *wink*). You want a wedding gown that will make you look gorgeous and feel amazing. You are the only one who will really know when you have found the gown that does this.

Q: Should I get a sitter for the kids?

A: We strongly recommend you not bring children to any bridal store. Your wedding gown choice is one of the most important you will make for your wedding. When shopping for that gown you need to be able to focus and concentrate without distractions. A bridal salon is not a fun place for kids and they will get bored very quickly and totally distract you from this important mission. We know because we have small children ourselves! A bridal store is also NOT a safe place for children due to loose pins and other hazards.

Q: What should I bring with me to try on gowns?

A: You may bring a strapless bra to your consultation but it is not necessary. Please wear proper/clean undergarments (NO THONGS) because you will not be dressing alone and the gowns may not close all the way in the back. We do not recommend you wear shoes while trying on bridal gowns because the gowns are not hemmed to your height and may be a tripping hazard.

Q: Can I take pictures of the different gowns that I try on?

A: Because our gowns are from exclusive designers you are not permitted to take pictures until you purchase your gown.

Q:How do I remember the gowns I try on?

A: After each consultation, we have you fill out a customer information form in which we write down the dresses you liked, including any accessories. From this point on, we have you on file so if your consultant is not available the next time you come back, another consultant can just look at your file and know exactly which dresses you tried on and comments you’ve made.

Q: Do you alter gowns not purchased from Royal Bridal?

A: Yes, we will alter gowns purchased elsewhere. We have helped many customers achieve their perfect look!
Our expert seamstress will alter gowns for anyone attending your wedding! With over 23 years of experience in altering bridal, mothers, bridesmaids, flower girls, etc. we would be more than happy to alter a gown for anyone in your bridal party!

Q: When should I schedule my first fitting?

A: We generally schedule your first fitting about 8 weeks before your wedding. Most brides feel that this is too close to their wedding. The reason we do the alterations so close to the wedding is because it is pointless to do the alterations too early as most brides change in weight right before the wedding. If your gown is altered too early, the chance of it needing to be re-altered is much greater. We believe in the minimum approach. The least times the dress is altered, the better. However, we do respect your needs and should you want to schedule your fitting earlier, we can do so as well.

Q: How much are alterations and when is the payment due?

A: For brides that bought a dress from Royal Bridal, the alteration charge starts at $375 which includes the hemming, taking in, and bustle. However, if your dress is heavily beaded or you want to add customization to your gown such as beading or sleeves/straps, remodeling the neckline, etc. you will be quoted at your 1st fitting. Payment for the alterations can be paid anytime throughout your fitting process, however if you wish to pay for your alterations when picking up your gown, only cash payments will be accepted.

Q: What should I bring to my first fitting?

A: For your first fitting you have to have your wedding shoes with you and any undergarment you are planning on wearing on your wedding day. Majority of our brides choose not to wear a bra underneath their wedding gown and instead want cups sewn in. This can be discussed with the seamstress. All of the major alterations happen on the first fitting so it is very important that you have everything you wish to wear on your wedding day with you.

Q: When do I pick up my dress after alterations?

A: We recommend you pick-up your gown a few days before the wedding. We don’t mind if you pick-up the day before. We will store your gown until you are ready for it.

Q: Will My gown be steamed/pressed?

A: Yes, when you purchase your gown from the Royal Bridal our seamstress will press the dress before you pick it up at no charge (there is a charge for gowns not purchased at the Royal Bridal).
