DO YOU ALTER GOWNS NOT PURCHASED AT ROYAL BRIDAL?
Yes, we will alter gowns purchased elsewhere. We have helped many customers achieve their perfect look!
Our expert seamstress will alter gowns for anyone attending your wedding! With over 23 years of experience in altering bridal, mothers, bridesmaids, flower girls, etc. we would be more than happy to alter a gown for anyone in your bridal party!
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY FIRST FITTING?
We generally schedule your first fitting about 8 weeks before your wedding. Most brides feel that this is too close to their wedding. The reason we do the alterations so close to the wedding is because it is pointless to do the alterations too early as most brides change in weight right before the wedding. If your gown is altered too early, the chance of it needing to be re-altered is much greater. We believe in the minimum approach. The least times the dress is altered, the better. However, we do respect your needs and should you want to schedule your fitting earlier, we can do so as well.
HOW MUCH ARE ALTERATIONS AND WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?
Alterations are charged a-la-carte and will be detailed on your alterations slip. The price depends on what you need done and the complexity of the job. Altering a plain gown is less intensive than altering a beaded gown and the price will reflect that. Remember, taking out ¼” or 3” costs the same. Alterations are paid in full at the first appointment.
HOW MANY FITTINGS WILL THERE BE?
There are usually 2 to 3 fittings. Since we do the first fitting so close to the wedding, your size then should closely resemble your size at your wedding thus eliminating the need for additional fittings. Complex jobs such as building up and creating jackets will usually require at least 3 fittings. We are most concerned with the proper fit of your gown then in rushing you though the process
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY FIRST FITTING?
You should bring the shoes and undergarments (bra/corset) that you will be wearing on your wedding day. A majority of our brides chose not to wear a bra under their wedding gown and opt to have cups sewn in. This can be discussed with the seamstress. If you still need to purchase your shoes, please do not wait until the day of your first fitting. Visit the store in advance to select your shoes so that your fitting is not held up or rescheduled.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT THE FIRST FITTING?
Our seamstress will pin you where needed. At that point, you can see how the dress will look closer to your size. She will discuss options with you such as how you want to bustle your train, how poofy you want your dress and whether or not you want built in cups. The first fitting usually takes 1 hour.
WHEN IS THE 2ND FITTING?
Our seamstress will discuss subsequent fittings at the end of your first fitting. It is generally 3-4 weeks after your first appointment.
WILL MY DRESS BE STEAMED/PRESSED?
Yes, when you purchase your gown from the Royal Bridal our seamstress will press the dress before you pick it up at no charge (there is a charge for gowns not purchased at the Royal Bridal).
WHEN DO I PICK-UP MY DRESS PRIOR TO THE WEDDING?
The gown is not picked-up at the 2nd appointment. You need to schedule a separate appointment to pick-up your wedding gown. We recommend you pick-up your gown a few days before the wedding. We don’t mind if you pick-up the day before. We will store your gown until you are ready for it.
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY WEDDING GOWN AFTER THE WEDDING?
We offer an excellent cleaning and preservation service.
